1 · Product approvals

Product approvals

No statewide roofing product approval or listing system was found. Local building officials rely on the code's labeling requirements and evaluation reports (ICC-ES, UL, FM).

2 · Permit forms

City re-roof permits

No statewide re-roof permit rule was found; cities and counties decide. City rules for Omaha, Lincoln, Bellevue, Grand Island and Kearney could not be confirmed from official pages in this pass.

3 · Code rules

Code rules

The Nebraska state building code adopts the 2018 International Residential Code (excluding section R313 and chapters 25-33), along with the 2018 IBC and 2018 IEBC, as amended under the Building Construction Act. Official adoption page ↗

5 · License and insurance

License and insurance

Nebraska doesn't license roofers, but contractors, roofers included, must register with the Nebraska Department of Labor under the Contractor Registration Act before doing construction work in the state.

6 · Lien and contract forms

Lien and contract rules

Under the Nebraska Construction Lien Act, record a lien within 120 days after your last work or materials. Homeowners living in the house ("protected parties") get extra payment protections, and subs can send a notice of right to assert a lien.
